Responsibly harvested hardwoods

Solvent, emission-free finishes

A kitchen renovation can be a exciting project that completely changes the overall dynamic of the home and family’s life. Before get started, there are a few things will need to do first. Here are 8 things to do before starting the kitchen renovation.

1. Set a Budget

The first very important step is setting a budget. A kitchen renovation can be expensive. and a lot of if you do not set a budget and stick with it. If you absolutely need to, you can alter the budget later. However, by setting an initial budget, you will be able to keep yourself from spending too much money on the project.

2. Set a Time Frame

Undergoing a kitchen renovation will usually prevent you from being able to use the kitchen. Therefore, you need to determine a time frame for how long you think this project is going to take. You will have to make alternative arrangements for dinner and plan on living around a mess for a while.

3. Look at Kitchen Designs

You will need to spend some time looking at kitchen designs in order to choose the best one for your kitchen. There are many different possible ways that you could lay out your kitchen. Just because your kitchen is currently in a certain format does not necessarily mean that you will have to go back with the same format. Look at several kitchen designs and spend some time thinking about which one would best serve your needs.

4. Choose a Design

Once you have looked at several kitchen designs, you will need to make a decision on one of them. Consult your spouse or anyone else that will play a role in making the decision. Narrow down your choices to 3 to 5 kitchen designs and then choose one out of that group.

5. Shop Around

After choosing a kitchen design; you will need to start shopping around for the kitchen renovation. Many times, by spending some extra time shopping at different stores, you can find great deals on the materials that you need.

6. Check Building Codes

Before undergoing any major kitchen renovation, you need to check with your local building codes to make sure that you are doing things by the book. The last thing that you want to do is go through renovation and then find out that your work was not up to code. This can be very costly and time-consuming.

7. Emotional Preparation

Before you go through a project as large as a kitchen renovation, you need to make sure that everyone is prepared emotionally. You need to sit down and discuss the project with the entire family. Typically, going through a kitchen renovation is going to cause a large mess in the kitchen as well as in the surrounding areas. Therefore, everyone in the family needs to be prepared for dealing with the process.

8. Find a Designer

It is a good idea to spend some time locating a quality kitchen designer. A good designer can take a lot of the pressure off of you and help you come up with a customized design for your kitchen.

EDIT Design Inc is an independent kitchen design service.

Cork is an amazing natural material that is 100% reusable and recyclable.

Cork is an amazing natural material that is 100% reusable and recyclable.

Natural cork is the bark of the cork oak tree – a completely renewable, sustainable and recyclable product. Once harvested from the tree, it is made into various cork products including wine stoppers. These wine stoppers are used in bottles of wine. But what happens to the cork after the bottle has been finished? Currently, many stoppers end up back in the landfill. With wine consumption on the rise (and even when it wasn’t), that’s a lot of cork heading into the landfill. Why not recycle your wine corks and keep them out of the landfills.
A common misconception is that people recycle cork stoppers because there is a “shortage” of cork. This is incorrect. In fact, there is enough cork in the regulated Mediterranean cork forest to last for another 100 years without needing to grow another tree! We are simply diverting waste from landfill sites as there are so many other uses for this wonderful natural product.

Only natural cork bottle stoppers have the ability to be recycled not the synthetic stoppers.

Please drop your cork bottle stoppers at the Studio at any time during the opening hours.

Thank you!
